It has been two years since Emma has competed in a figure skating competition.
We took a break from the competitions because she was focusing on her synchro team. Since she is not doing the synchro team this year, we decided that it would be a good time to get back into competing.
She worked so hard getting ready for this competition. She has been struggling for months now, trying to land her double axel. She keeps getting so close, but it is such a hard jump and so many things have to go right in order to land it. I know she will get there someday. She has enough talent and determination to do it.
Here is an interesting little story about his competition.
It was the first time that she was competing at this particular level- the Novice level. That's a part of the big league so to speak. Kids that are skating at that level are pretty serious skaters. So that made Emma a little nervous. Then, about a week before the competition, we discovered that she was supposed to have two programs- a short and a long.
Well, alright then.
No problem.
She can totally put something together in a week. (YIKES!)
Despite those major strikes against her, she skated her little heart out.
Were they her best performances?
She will be the first person to tell you that no, they were not, but she didn't quit.
She kept a smile on her face and she looked beautiful and confident.
It was a tough competition emotionally and physically, but it also gave her the resolve to work harder and focus more. She learned what she needed to and followed through. I am so proud of this beautiful little lady of mine.
