Better Late Than Never- 4th of July 2017

Well, here we are, June 24, 2018, and I am just getting to blogging about the 4th of July 2017?
Yep.
That's exactly what is happening here.
Going to school, subbing in seminary, and oh ya, being a mom have kept me insanely busy this year.  But, I am determined to use some of my down time this summer to get caught up (or mostly caught up...let's be realistic here...I still don't have a lot of "down time".)

So, let's see how good my memory is, shall we?

4th of July 2017

Hiking to the "Living Room" with the Wilcox Family
Our first adventure on this hot 4th of July day we to go on a little hike to the "Living Room".  It is up above the University of Utah.  The hike was a little on the lengthy side, and some of our group did not actually make it to the "Living Room", but we had a lot of fun anyway.

The "Living Room" is actually a bunch of rocks that are strewn together in such a way that they look like couches.  The view from the "couches" is amazing and well worth the hike.  We took this adventure with the Wilcox family.  It was so fun to get to know them and enjoy each other's company.

Abbie and Ellie were less than thrilled to go on a hike, because...they hate hiking, but with the promise of a treat afterwards, they endured to the end.  In fact, Ellie ran a good portion of the way down the hill.

We stopped at Iceberg for some shakes and fries.  The perfect "after-hike" treat, if you ask me.

Later that afternoon, we went swimming at Dan and Michelle's house to celebrate the 4th of July and Miss Penny's 7th birthday.

The girls spent most of the time doing tricks off the diving board.  It was the perfect way to spend the 4th of July--celebrating our beautiful, free country with family and friends.
