Off and On

A routine trip to the orthodontist brought sheer joy for one of my girlies and sheer torture for the other.

This little lady is now flashing a beautiful smile of pearly white teeth.  What made this appointment even better is that she did not know they would be removing her braces.

Sadly, this is not a permanent thing.  She will have to have another set when more of her baby teeth fall out.  She had this first set of braces to close the big gap in between her front teeth.  So she gets to enjoy a retainer for a little while and will then be a brace face again.

Miss Abbie also had a big surprise.

She went expecting a checkup and came out with braces.

At her last trip to the dentist, they discovered that one of her permanent teeth is coming down right on top of her front teeth.  This presents a problem because it could kill the roots of that tooth.  So we are shifting her front teeth a bit until the other tooth comes down, then we will move them back.  

This turn of events really could have gone either way.  Abbie is not one who likes to suddenly switch gears or get surprises.  I was proud of her though.  She handled the news like a champ and was still smiling afterwards.  

At least until the pain set in an hour or so later.

Then the monster was unleashed.
It's going to be a long 4-5 years.....
