February 2017 Happenings

February...the month of love.

And we are in love with our little fur babies. :)

Anastasia has stolen all of our hearts.  She is such a sweet little kitty and loves to cuddle, (when she is ready to cuddle).  She and Bailey have become friends and as long as Ana doesn't bother Bailey while she is eating, then everything is good with the world.

For Christmas, one of the family gifts that we received was a box full of family adventures.  (Okay, so I kept procrastinating and did not actually fill the box with anything beyond our Disneyland tickets, but the intention was there...)

Even though I did not choose the adventures ahead of time like I had hoped, we are still making sure that we get our family adventure time in each month.

For February, we decided to split up our family adventure and do a girl's adventure and a boy's adventure.  Emma has been dying to skate on an outside rink for years now.  Well, her dream finally came true and we went to the Gallivan Center to skate on their outside rink...along with the hundred or so other people who decided to go that day as well.  Even though it was crowded, we still had fun.

The boys went to Top Golf, but they are not bloggers or scrapbookers so no pictures were taken.

It's college acceptance season and Josh got off to a great start!  He heard from BYU-Idaho and Utah State.  They both accepted him into their schools and even received a full ride scholarship offer from Utah State.  He is grateful for that offer, but his heart lies with BYU in Provo.  He is waiting to hear from them before he decides where to go for sure.

(Spoiler alert...since I am actually writing this in mid-March, we already know that he got into BYU.  More on that in the next post. :)

He also won his first concerto competition!  He has competed in several competitions throughout the years, and although he did well in those, has never won any competition.  This competition was for a chance to play a solo concerto with the Timpanogos Symphony.  He was very excited to be one of 8 students selected to be a soloist with the symphony.

But the elation did not last long because we discovered a little problem.  The day of the concert happens to be the same day as the last concert with Lyceum Philharmonic.  Since he is the principle cellist with Lyceum, this presented a huge problem.  I felt so bad for him.  It was such a tough decision to be faced with.  

After lots of prayers, he decided to stay with Lyceum and fulfill his commitment to them.  It was very hard to give up the concerto, but I know that he will be blessed with other solo opportunities in his life.
